O azul de Zamora: um século de dramaturgia na fachada do Ramos Carrión
O Teatro Ramos Carrión, em Zamora, ergue-se no antigo pátio do Hospício do Palácio dos Condes de Alba y Aliste — atual Parador Nacional de Turismo —, no tecido histórico adjacente à Plaza de Viriato. Projetado pelo arquiteto catalão Francesc Ferriol i Carreras, o edifício modernista foi inaugurado em 1916 com La noche del sábado, de Jacinto Benavente. A fachada, de composição eclética com incidências modernistas, organiza-se em dois pisos, articulados por vãos de arco de volta perfeita, pilastras coríntias, balaustradas e frontão semicircular central. O teatro é dedicado a Miguel Ramos Carrión (1848-1915), dramaturgo zamorano e libretista de zarzuelas, entre as quais La bruja e Agua, azucarillos y aguardiente; diante do edifício conserva-se o busto em sua homenagem. Após ter funcionado como cinema e conhecer prolongado abandono, foi objeto de reabilitação e ampliação promovidas pela Diputación de Zamora desde 1996. O conjunto, reformulado por MGM Arquitetos e inaugurado em 2011, preserva a fachada histórica e acrescenta novos volumes, uma praça de acesso e uma rampa de ligação ao miradouro sobre o Douro.
The Ramos Carrión Theater in Zamora stands in the former courtyard of the Hospice of the Palace of the Counts of Alba y Aliste—now the Parador Nacional de Turismo—in the historic district adjacent to Plaza de Viriato. Designed by the Catalan architect Francesc Ferriol i Carreras, the Modernist building opened in 1916 with a performance of Jacinto Benavente’s *La noche del sábado*. The façade, with an eclectic composition featuring Modernist elements, is organized into two stories, connected by round-arched openings, Corinthian pilasters, balustrades, and a central semicircular pediment. The theater is dedicated to Miguel Ramos Carrión (1848–1915), a playwright from Zamora and librettist for zarzuelas, including *La bruja* and *Agua, azucarillos y aguardiente*; a bust in his honor stands in front of the building. After serving as a movie theater and enduring a long period of neglect, it underwent restoration and expansion led by the Zamora Provincial Council beginning in 1996. The complex, redesigned by MGM Arquitectos and inaugurated in 2011, preserves the historic façade and adds new structures, an access plaza, and a ramp connecting to the viewpoint overlooking the Douro River.
