Caminhos Antigos da Serra da Arada: O PR14 entre Regoufe e Drave
O troço integra o PR14 – A Aldeia Mágica, percurso pedestre homologado no Arouca Geopark (UNESCO Global Geopark) que liga Regoufe à aldeia de Drave, no coração da serra da Arada. O caminho, calcetado com lajes graníticas irregulares encaixadas na rocha‑mãe, corresponde a uma antiga via de comunicação serrana utilizada durante séculos para a circulação de pessoas, gado bovino e caprino, e para o transporte de lenha, centeio, batata e outros produtos agrícolas entre as pequenas comunidades da região. A sua construção rústica, adaptada ao relevo escarpado e às fortes pendentes, revela técnicas tradicionais de calcetamento rural, com pedras assentes a seco para resistir à erosão pluvial. Do miradouro natural avista‑se o vale do rio Paivó, com socalcos abandonados que testemunham a agricultura de subsistência praticada até meados do século XX. A vegetação combina fetos, tojos, urzes e sobreiros isolados, típica dos xistos e granitos da Arada, num território marcado pela desertificação humana e pela recuperação florestal pós‑incêndios.
The section is part of the PR14 – A Aldeia Mágica, an officially certified hiking trail in the Arouca Geopark (UNESCO Global Geopark) that connects Regoufe to the village of Drave, in the heart of the Serra da Arada. The path, paved with irregular granite slabs set into the bedrock, follows an ancient mountain trail used for centuries by people, cattle, and goats, as well as for transporting firewood, rye, potatoes, and other agricultural products between the region’s small communities. Its rustic construction, adapted to the rugged terrain and steep slopes, showcases traditional rural paving techniques, with stones laid in a dry-stone wall to resist rain erosion. From the natural viewpoint, one can see the Paivó River valley, with abandoned terraces that bear witness to the subsistence farming practiced until the mid-20th century. The vegetation consists of ferns, gorse, heather, and isolated cork oaks—typical of the schist and granite of Arada—in a landscape marked by human-induced desertification and post-fire forest regeneration.
