A Casa dos Sande e a Linguagem das Fachadas Medievais
Pormenor da fachada da Casa del Águila, também conhecida como Casa de los Sande, no centro histórico de Cáceres, integrado no conjunto inscrito pela UNESCO na Lista do Património Mundial em 1986. Sobre a porta principal, de madeira pintada de azul, destaca-se um escudo heráldico esculpido em pedra, com a representação de uma águia, motivo associado à designação tradicional do imóvel e à linhagem dos Sande. A composição inclui, sob o escudo, um elemento escultórico ornamental de desenho vegetal e volutas, cuja função é essencialmente decorativa. A fachada combina uma moldura de cantaria lisa, que enquadra o vão da entrada, com uma superfície de alvenaria irregular, constituída por materiais pétreos e fragmentos cerâmicos de tonalidades diversas. Na parte superior visível, uma pequena abertura gradeada e, à direita, um vão parcialmente enquadrado por moldura pétrea completam o conjunto. A imagem documenta, assim, a estratificação material e a hierarquia decorativa da arquitetura civil histórica cacerenha.
A detail of the façade of the Casa del Águila, also known as the Casa de los Sande, in the historic center of Cáceres, which is part of the complex inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1986. Above the main door, made of blue-painted wood, stands out a heraldic coat of arms carved in stone, depicting an eagle—a motif associated with the building’s traditional name and the Sande family lineage. The composition includes, beneath the coat of arms, an ornamental sculptural element featuring plant motifs and volutes, whose function is primarily decorative. The façade combines a smooth stone frame, which encloses the entrance opening, with an irregular masonry surface composed of stone materials and ceramic fragments of various hues. In the visible upper section, a small barred opening and, to the right, an opening partially framed by a stone molding complete the ensemble. The image thus documents the material stratification and decorative hierarchy of historic civil architecture in Caceres.
