Spiaggia Grande de Positano: coração marítimo da Costa Amalfitana
A Spiaggia Grande é a principal praia de Positano, uma das localidades mais emblemáticas da Costa Amalfitana, no sul de Itália, inscrita na Lista do Património Mundial da UNESCO desde 1997 enquanto parte do conjunto “Costiera Amalfitana”. Com cerca de 300 metros de extensão, a praia caracteriza-se pelos seixos e pela areia escura de origem vulcânica, associada à proximidade geológica do sistema do Vesúvio e dos Montes Lattari. Ao fundo, destaca-se o casario tipicamente positanês, construído em anfiteatro na encosta rochosa, em tons pastel de ocre, rosa e amarelo, numa adaptação arquitetónica com raízes medievais que permitiu maximizar o espaço habitável num terreno abrupto. No horizonte marítimo avistam‑se as Ilhas Li Galli, pequeno arquipélago que a tradição identifica com a morada das sereias da Odisseia, ainda que a associação mítica não seja comprovável historicamente. A Spiaggia Grande encontra‑se dividida entre zona pública gratuita e vários stabilimenti balneari com espreguiçadeiras alugadas, modelo balnear difundido no litoral italiano a partir do século XIX e consolidado no século XX.
Spiaggia Grande is the main beach in Positano, one of the most iconic towns on the Amalfi Coast in southern Italy, which has been inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List since 1997 as part of the “Amalfi Coast” site. About 300 meters long, the beach is characterized by its pebbles and dark volcanic sand, a result of its geological proximity to the Vesuvius system and the Lattari Mountains. In the background, the typical Positano houses stand out, built in an amphitheater-like arrangement on the rocky hillside in pastel shades of ochre, pink, and yellow—an architectural adaptation with medieval roots that maximized livable space on steep terrain. On the maritime horizon lie the Li Galli Islands, a small archipelago that tradition identifies as the home of the sirens from the *Odyssey*, although this mythical association cannot be historically proven. Spiaggia Grande is divided between a free public area and several stabilimenti balneari offering sun loungers for rent—a beach resort model that spread along the Italian coast beginning in the 19th century and became firmly established in the 20th century.
