As Raparigas do Tempo e o Termómetro de Copenhaga
O edifício Richshuset, localizado na esquina da Rådhuspladsen (Praça da Câmara Municipal) em Copenhaga, Dinamarca, é um marco arquitetónico construído entre 1934 e 1936. Projetado pelo arquiteto Alf Cock-Clausen, a estrutura destaca-se pela sua robusta fachada em tijolo escuro e pelo proeminente torreão de gaveto. O elemento técnico e cultural mais singular deste edifício é o sistema meteorológico integrado na torre. Ao longo da aresta vertical, encontra-se um grande termómetro de néon que exibe a temperatura. No topo, em nichos dourados, figuram as famosas "Vejrpigerne" (Raparigas do Tempo), esculturas criadas por Einar Utzon-Frank. Originalmente, um mecanismo rotativo exibia a escultura de uma rapariga a andar de bicicleta quando o tempo estava bom, e outra a passear com um guarda-chuva em dias de chuva. Atualmente, o edifício alberga diversos espaços comerciais e escritórios, visíveis através dos múltiplos letreiros na fachada, como a Espresso House no piso térreo, refletindo a sua contínua relevância no centro da capital dinamarquesa.
The Richshuset building, located on the corner of Rådhuspladsen (City Hall Square) in Copenhagen, Denmark, is an architectural landmark built between 1934 and 1936. Designed by architect Alf Cock-Clausen, the structure stands out for its robust dark-brick façade and prominent hipped turret. The most unique technical and cultural feature of this building is the weather station integrated into the tower. Along the vertical edge is a large neon thermometer displaying the temperature. At the top, in gilded niches, stand the famous “Vejrpigerne” (Weather Girls), sculptures created by Einar Utzon-Frank. Originally, a rotating mechanism displayed a sculpture of a girl riding a bicycle when the weather was fine, and another strolling with an umbrella on rainy days. Today, the building houses various retail spaces and offices, visible through the multiple signs on the facade, such as the Espresso House on the ground floor, reflecting its continued relevance in the heart of the Danish capital.
