The Augacaída Waterfall, also known as the Marce Waterfall, is a waterfall approximately 40 meters high formed by the Aguianza stream, a tributary of the Minho River, in the municipality of Pantón, in the Ribeira Sacra region of Lugo. Located near the village of Marce, in the former parish of Vilar de Ortelle, the waterfall marks the point where this small stream plunges into the Os Peares reservoir, a short distance from its confluence with the Minho. Modern access combines a local road with a pedestrian trail of about 2.3 km from Marce, following old cobblestone paths that wind through oak groves and old vineyard terraces—now largely abandoned—bearing witness to the Ribeira Sacra’s long winemaking tradition. The area is part of the Augacaída–Castro de Marce route, which connects natural and archaeological heritage sites, including a hillfort (castro) with strategic views over the Minho Valley, highlighting the historical use of this territory as a river and agricultural corridor.
