O Coração Pedonal de Riomaggiore
A Via Cristoforo Colombo constitui a artéria principal de Riomaggiore, uma das cinco localidades que integram as Cinque Terre, na Ligúria. Esta estreita rua pedonal atravessa o centro histórico da povoação, ladeada por edifícios característicos de quatro a cinco pisos, pintados nas cores tradicionais ocre, amarelo, rosa e vermelho. A toponímia remete para Cristóvão Colombo, cuja família terá tido origem nesta área da Riviera di Levante. Riomaggiore desenvolveu-se ao longo do vale do ribeiro que lhe dá nome, com uma construção vertical típica das comunidades costeiras da Ligúria, onde o espaço escasso entre o mar e as encostas abruptas condicionou uma arquitetura em altura. O conjunto das Cinque Terre foi inscrito na Lista do Património Mundial da UNESCO em 1997, em reconhecimento da interação harmoniosa entre a atividade humana e a paisagem natural ao longo de mais de mil anos.
Via Cristoforo Colombo is the main thoroughfare of Riomaggiore, one of the five villages that make up the Cinque Terre in Liguria. This narrow pedestrian street runs through the historic center of the village, flanked by characteristic four- to five-story buildings painted in the traditional colors of ochre, yellow, pink, and red. The name refers to Christopher Columbus, whose family is said to have originated in this area of the Riviera di Levante. Riomaggiore developed along the valley of the stream that gives it its name, with a vertical layout typical of Ligurian coastal communities, where the limited space between the sea and the steep slopes necessitated the construction of tall buildings. The Cinque Terre region was inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1997, in recognition of the harmonious interaction between human activity and the natural landscape over more than a thousand years.
