Quando a Arquitetura Dialoga com o Crepúsculo
A Cidade das Artes e das Ciências de Valência, projetada maioritariamente pelo arquiteto e engenheiro valenciano Santiago Calatrava e Félix Candela, constitui um dos maiores complexos culturais e científicos da Europa. Inaugurada progressivamente entre 1998 e 2005, a obra estende-se ao longo do antigo leito do rio Túria, desviado após a devastadora cheia de 1957. Na imagem, destaca-se em primeiro plano o Hemisfèric, edifício em forma de olho humano que alberga uma sala IMAX, um planetário e um teatro de laser. À direita, ergue-se o Palau de les Arts Reina Sofía, dedicado à ópera e às artes cénicas, com os seus 70 metros de altura. À esquerda, vislumbra-se a estrutura do Museu de les Ciències Príncipe Felipe. O pôr do sol intenso, com tonalidades de rosa, laranja e violeta, reflete-se nos espelhos de água que circundam os edifícios, elemento paisagístico central do complexo. A arquitetura orgânica e futurista de Calatrava transformou esta zona num ícone turístico e urbanístico de Valência.
The City of Arts and Sciences of Valencia, designed mainly by Valencian architect and engineer Santiago Calatrava and Félix Candela, is one of the largest cultural and scientific complexes in Europe. Inaugurated progressively between 1998 and 2005, the complex extends along the old bed of the Turia River, which was diverted after the devastating flood of 1957. In the image, the Hemisfèric stands out in the foreground, a building in the shape of a human eye that houses an IMAX theater, a planetarium, and a laser theater. On the right stands the Palau de les Arts Reina Sofía, dedicated to opera and the performing arts, with its 70 meters in height. On the left, you can see the structure of the Museu de les Ciències Príncipe Felipe. The intense sunset, with shades of pink, orange, and violet, is reflected in the water mirrors that surround the buildings, the central landscape element of the complex. Calatrava's organic and futuristic architecture has transformed this area into a tourist and urban icon of Valencia.
